History

Deuteronomy 7:9,

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God: He is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.

May 16th 1882 - The Baptist religion was organized by five people, including the first pastor, Rev. H.B. Marshall. Services were held in other churches and schoolhouses, including the Gilmore school and the town hall in Troy Township, in Cazenovia.

 

1886 - The Church was built and was the largest in Pipestone, a town of 400 people. The cost to build was $3,300; $350 was used to purchase the land.

 

1927 - Vacation Bible School was planned and held.

 

1948 - Rev. K.I. Dunklee organized a band and they played during offertory and during the hymns at the evening service. Alton Gilmore played the slide trombone.

 

1950 - The Parsonage was purchased.

 

May 1958 - Ground breaking for a new First Baptist Church building began. The cost of this church was about $140,000 along with many donated hours.

 

Nov. 22nd 1959 - The first held services in the present church. The church bell had been removed from the belfry of the old church and moved to the tower of the new church by Hicks Oil Company.

 

2006 - Remodeling of the sanctuary began. The old church pews were replaced by sanctuary chairs. The wall that divided the sanctuary from the back entree was taken out to give the church a more open and inviting feeling.

 

Faith Community Church's present Senior Pastor is Jennings Wallace. He began His ministry in 2008.
